Funded by a CTE grant from the Oregon Department of Education, for each of the next two summers, low-income and other disadvantaged and under-represented students in Portland and David Douglas School Districts will immerse themselves in the professional trades. They will learn from field professionals in the areas of carpentry, electric and sheet metal workers. The vision of SPACE is aligned to the Portland metro regional industry growth areas of construction and manufacturing which anticipate employment openings to grow by 31% and 19% respectively through 2022.
